The Macquarie spelling list has been extracted from the database of the Macquarie Dictionary, the authority on Australian English.

The more than 270,000 items include headwords, inflected forms and derived forms. For example, it doesn’t just list zip – you will also find zips, zipped, zipping, zippy, zippier, zippiest, zipper and zippers.

The Macquarie spelling list has been curated as an aid to accuracy and consistency in documentation and correspondence. As such, it contains the main, or preferred, Australian English spellings, and not variant spellings and forms, so the spelling colour will be included, and not color, assuring consistency of spelling.
