wongi

a yarn among friends: I was having a wongi with Bill when the bell rang to go back to work.

Contributor's comments: I have lived in WA for 47 years in both country and metro areas and have never heard of this expression.
wongie

watermelon; watermelon rind: "Let's have a wongie fight!" (nasty rough boys would thereupon spin chunks of watermelon rind at each other.) Also, wongi.

Contributor's comments: This one brings back fond memories of raiding the local market gardens along the Brunswick river, and floating down river with your mates and a heap of wongies. When out of sight we would stuff ourselves on the forbidden fruit, then lie around like dogs that had eaten too much.

Contributor's comments: [Perth informant] We used to pinch wongis when we were kids.
