The NSW Premier's Spelling Bee is a statewide competition broken down into two divisions: a junior competition for students in years 3 and 4, and a senior competition for students in years 5 and 6.
The Spelling Bee started in 2004 and has been growing ever since. Over 134,000 students from 900 schools all over NSW have participated this year, with 86 finalists battling it out yesterday.
Contestants came across incredibly difficult words such as chinchilla, echinoderm, alimentary and turpentine.
